I’m Matt Aitia, a director and cinematographer based in Toronto, Canada. My work spans commercials, documentaries, and short films, always with an emphasis on strong visuals that serve the narrative.
My background includes six years in the lighting department, which gave me a technical foundation and flexibility I bring to every project. I know how to connect creative ideas with what’s actually possible on set. Along the way, I’ve also been documenting my process online — sharing behind-the-scenes insights that have built a community of filmmakers.
